Polyphosphates, alone or in combination with orthophosphates can effectively control corrosion on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys. Polyphosphates can be particularly effective as corrosion control agents at lower temperatures and at a pH of less than 7.5. Polyphosphates alone need to have the ability to break down into smaller chain polyphosphates and orthophosphates to inhibit corrosion. Specific phosphate blends must be used to adequately provide the best result for ferrous and non-ferrous metal control and corrosion control for the piping in the system.
